Good evening Pack 333 families. I'd like to thank all the parent volunteers who have stepped forward to help with this year's activities and also encourage others to do so as well. We have a wide range of activities that need more than two adults to ensure the Cubs have a great time and awesome learning experience. We are still in need of Den Leaders or Assistant Den Leaders for the Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Dens. As a former and current acting Den Leader for these dens, most activities require less than 30 minutes preparation for execution and offer your child to see you in a different light or role. No expertise in any area is required, Adventure guides and materials are provided. Please see Mr. Pointe's email for more details and feel free to ask any of the Den Leaders, Assistant Den Leaders, or Cubmaster any questions you may have.

It's been a busy couple of weeks, the Pack calendar has been updated to reflect Den meetings for the Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Dens. The Lion and AOL Dens are using a dynamic scheduling model that allows month to month scheduling. All Dens were able to work on an Adventure and receive their first Adventure loops for the year. My apologies to the Tiger and Wolf Dens, I have the Advancements available and will distribute them at the next Den meetings. I also wanted to thank the Bear Den for braving today's 25 mph winds and 30F temperatures for an excellent hike and discussion. As always, weather and other unforeseen events play a factor with meetings. With winter months coming, most Den activities will allow for primarily indoor activities with some outdoor events as well.

December's focus for the Lions through Bears is community service; we will be talking with different persons and inquiring about why they chose their career, what skills and/or qualifications they needed, and how they serve the community. We will tie one of our service projects into this focus. For our next Pack meeting on 13 December, we'll be working on a service project, care packages for deployed service members as part of the USO Give Back. Special thanks to Mandy Sharp for organizing this event. We will have Cubs assemble the kits and write individual greeting cards for the service members. The Cubs will also have the opportunity to participate in a Cubs gift exchange. We are asking a $5 maximum limit with something appropriate for either a girl or boy Cub and preferably Scout related. The Gift exchange is voluntary and will be at the end of the meeting.

An email invite has also been sent out for any wishing to participate in the Wreaths Across America wreath laying at Baltimore National Cemetery in Catonsville on Saturday 17 December 2022. If you are interested in participating, please click on the RSVP link in Scoutbook on the calendar invite before 11 December 2022. Emails have also gone out for sign-up for the Pinewood Derby to allow us to purchase Pinewood kits for each Cub participating. Emails requesting volunteers for Derby workshops to help the Cubs shape their design and for the Derby day itself also were sent out. If you are interested, curious, or just want to have fun making a car with your Cub, please consider signing up. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask. A similar series of emails will go out in December for the Model Rocket Day in February.

We will look at the upcoming events for the start of 2023 at the December Pack meeting. As always, any questions, comments, or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Until then, have a wonderful and reflective Thanksgiving week.

Respectfully,

Tara Lydick

Pack 333 Cubmaster

Good evening Pack 333 families! I hope everyone had a great time at this weekend's Camp Fire and Bobcat Ceremony; we had beautiful weather and an amazing turnout. We inducted 20 new Cubs, our Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Dens, as well as our Pack Leaders formally into the Pack. After toasting some Smores, our Webelos and AOL Cubs participated in a flag retirement ceremony. Our new Bobcats also presented their parents with a Bobcat pin and painted their parent's noses.

We're starting to get near the busy time of the year and have several events coming up.

Howard County Veterans Parade. Our Pack has been invited to participate in the Howard County Veteran's Parade. This Sunday 13 November 2022 at 0830, units will muster at Merriweather Drive for a 0930 step off and conclusion with the 1100 ceremony. IF you are interested in participating, please wear your uniform top and pants and comfortable shoes (it's about a mile to the Columbia waterfront at the end of the route); no marching experience is required, a nice paced walk or meander is acceptable. If you are interested in participating please RSVP on Scoutbook. This event counts towards part of each Cub rank's Duty to Country Adventure and provides the Pack an opportunity to say thank you to veterans of all wars. If you are a Veteran, please consider talking to your Den(s) regarding your experiences, from why you decided to join the military, your career speciality(ies), any challenges or positive learning experiences you had, and what qualifications you had for different occupations. Your Den Leader(s) can facilitate this discussion.

November Pack Meeting. On Tuesday 15 November at 5:45pm at St. James UMC, we will have our November Pack Meeting. We will discuss upcoming December events, preparation for the Pinewood Derby (including ordering cars), and have a special presentation by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. We will be starting early to accommodate our special guests. This Pack meeting will also count for part of all Cub rank's outdoor/local ecology Adventure.

Den Meetings. I am sending Den meeting time and day options for the Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Dens to each Den. If you are have a preference, please select one in the doodle poll link.

December Military Give Back Preparation. In December, our Pack meeting will focus on a service activity: assembling and packaging care kits for deployed military personnel. As part of the preparation, we need volunteers to gather enough materials for the kits and final packing and drop off (the Pack will directly reimburse any costs). If there are any adults interested in volunteering for these actions, please let me know. We also will be doing a $5 gift exchange amongst the Cubs. This Pack meeting activities count as part of all Cub rank's service requirements.

Pinewood Derby Preparation. The Pinewood Derby is scheduled for January 14, 2023 as our January Pack Meeting. Emails will come out later this week for signups to allow the Pack to order enough cars to distribute at the December Pack meeting. We also need Parent volunteers to help weigh the cars, setup the track, run the cars, and distribute the awards. If you are interested, please note your area of interest in the signup.

Any comments, questions, or suggestions are more than welcome. Have a great week.

Respectfully,

Tara Lydick
