Good evening Pack 333 families.

We have a busy couple of weeks for our Cubs.

Pack Hike/Outdoor Adventure - this Saturday 11 May 2024 at 1pm at Patapsco State Park Avalon Orange Grove area (https://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/central/PatapscoValley/Avalon/Avalon-OrangeGrove-GlenArtney.aspx), we are having our Pack hike. This hike allows those who need to finish their outdoor adventures (Webelos Walkabout/Into the Woods, Bears: Fur, Feathers, and Ferns, Wolf - Paws on the Path/Finding Your Way, Tiger - My Tiger Jungle, Lion's Honor). We'll be meeting at the suspension bridge parking lot and taking a couple paths down by the river (for those who desire, you can swim or wade in the river) and the waterfalls (you can also wade in the waterfall pool and river). It looks to be an awesome day for hiking; families are welcome. Just a reminder, it is a Maryland State Park and there is an admission fee (our Youth Group pass doesn't provide for entrance fees during non-winter months). If you have been waiting to sign up, it's here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805044AABAA2CA5FB6-49219574-mega#/

Our Pack meeting is on Tuesday 14 May 2024. We will be doing Rockets - straw, paper, alka seltzer, and water rockets. Due to the water need and heights some of these bottles go, we're moving the meeting to my backyard. We'll be starting around 6pm and will wrap up with ice cream and Italian ice. The address is 12635 Emory Farm Lane Sykesville, MD 21784; families can park on the grass to the right of the driveway and on the front lawn. Please avoid parking in the street as it is very narrow (1 1/4 lanes wide). Families are welcome, no RSVPs are needed. If you would like to bring any extra empty 2 liter soda bottles or straws would be appreciated.

Duty to County make-up is on Wednesday 15 May 2024. This Adventure allows our Cubs to meet with first responders and our Webelos to practice First Aid. Our Bears will Paws for Action, our Wolves will have a Council Fire, our Tigers will learn to be Tiger Safe and Smart as well as be part of Team Tiger, and our Lions can be Kings of the Jungle and part of the Animal Kingdom. I am awaiting our final start time from the Sykesville Police Department. If you have been waiting to sign up, it's here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805044AABAA2CA5FB6-49219908-mega#/

For our Webelos and Bears, we also have our outdoor cooking adventures. For those participating, please let me know what recipes you'd like to prepare for cooking on an outdoor skillet and over a campfire. We're planning on making a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack for those present (families - you can eat as well). We have 2 sessions currently scheduled on 17th May (5:30pm = 7:30pm) and 18th May (2pm - 5pm). These will also be held in my backyard. If you haven't signed up, the sign-up is https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805044AABAA2CA5FB6-49220044-mega

Finally, we're planning our Cubs Bridging to the next Rank on Friday 7 June 2024. This is a family event for all our Cubs regardless if they finish their rank or not. More to come here.

As always, any questions, comments, or suggestions are welcome.

Respectfully,

Tara

Good evening Pack 333 families.

As our AOL Cubs move to their Troops and other journeys, our younger Cubs are working to finish this year's Rank requirements for their Bridging to their next rank at the beginning of June.   As not everyone can make every Den meeting, we usually hold a "Mega Makeup" event that allows Cubs who have missed Den meetings that covered different Adventures to attend.  Most Required Adventures follow a theme or focus through the Ranks from Lions to AOLs and our Mega Make-ups are geared to allow Cubs of all Ranks to participate.

Below are links for those such events; for each category there is a link for the appropriate rank on the sign-up page.  You also have the option of completing the Adventure at home and reporting it to your Den Leader or Cubmaster (Wolf and Webelos Den).  I have received a couple of emails expressing interest and am asking that if you are interested in participating in any or all of the Mega Makeup events, to please sign up on the links below at least 2 days prior to the event to allow me to ensure enough materials are there for all participants.  If anyone is interested in assisting in any of these events, PLEASE reach out. I'll take any and all help.

If you are not certain as to if you need a make-up, you can check Scoutbook, reach out to your Den Leader, or Cubmaster.  I am slowly getting individual emails out to the Pack with each Cub's status; however, Scoutbook is being recalcitrant and making my efforts a bit laborious.

I believe every Scout should have the opportunity to complete their Rank and still have fun.  We will continue Pack activities (including Water and Model Rockets) this year and start our next year planning in the coming months.  Your input is critical.

As  always, any questions, comments, or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Respectfully,

Tara

Good evening Pack 333 families.

Our Arrow of Light Ceremony and Bridging is fast approaching. We are setting up tables, chairs, food stations, the bridge, and slide show at 1pm at the ASH Hall at St. Johns Episcopal Church (9120 Old Frederick Road, Ellicott City, MD) with our program beginning at 1:30pm. We will be celebrating our Arrow of Light Cubs Advancement with a desert themed event. Families can bring any potluck item they desire (not required).

The Pack is providing dairy and dairy free confectionery for all attendees. Our program is anticipated to last approximately 90 minutes with a clean up following afterwards. A sign-up has been created to assist in estimating the number of attendees, food, and tables and can be found below.

Come celebrate our AOL Scouts accomplishments and watch them take that next step in their journey.

Any one interested in assisting in any aspect of this event can reach out to me at tmlydick@gmail.com or 302.275.9478.

Please feel free to forward the email as needed.

As always, any suggestions, questions, or comments are always welcome.

Respectfully,

Tara Lydick
